200 New Users In 8 Days
We’ve had over 200 new users in just 8 days. The calls and emails coming in about the service are fantastic. From out-of-towners, it is universal, they all tell us they wish their home town had wireless service.
“If you lived in Ypsilanti, your hometown would have free Wireless Internet.”
Oh yeah, we also say “Thanks for stopping in and shopping in Ypsilanti.”
We are averaging between 150 and 200 users per day. We have also jumped to over 330GB of data moved. That is 80GB in eight days as well. As Brian Robb is often heard to say, “That is just stunning.”

NY Times: Hopes For Wireless Cities Fade As Internet Providers Pull Out
The New York Times wrote in the Sunday edition that municipal wireless Internet is fading fast as project after project fails. But guess which one project they said was growing? Well it would have been cool if they said Ypsilanti, after all, NYTimes.com did a write up about YpsiCrime.org several years ago after YpsiCrime became only the second Google Map application to go live.
Ypsilanti has always been on the technology frontier.
So who did the NY Times mention in their article? It was San Francisco and Meraki. Well you can add Ypsilanti and Meraki to that list as well.
We are using the same Meraki system and now deployed over 50 radios across Ypsilanti. We have increased the number of subscribers by 50% in just over two weeks. No joke, we added 500 new users in 17 days.
You can help us grow the network. Buy a radio for $50, share your connection with your neighbors and lets blanket the city with wireless Internet.
